Kids, Doctors, Houses, and Boog...Oh My!!!

It has been a while since I've posted on this blog. I think it is appropriate that it is tornado season in Texas, as that is how things feel right now...but in a good way. :)

We are wrapping up animation on Open Season 2. I can't tell you how fantastic the crew has been on this show. I've seen guys who are less than a year out of school come onto this project and perform like seasoned senior animators. It really is amazing what people can do when given a chance. I've also seen the senior guys go out of their way to help the junior guys improve and give them a sense of belonging. As a studio, I feel like everyone has really come together. With any job a crew can go one of 2 ways: Either crumble under the pressure and self destruct, or come together and attack the challenges. On OS2, the crew here did the latter and it shows in the work. The crew at Sony, all the off-site animators, and the guys in-house...Just amazing job by everyone!

In addition to finishing up OS2, my wife just graduated from Dental School...Huzzah! Now I guess she will want me to call her Dr. Engram. Umm...don't know about that. Well...maybe...she earned it after all. I've known her for 10 years, and she has been in school for all 10. I can't describe how relieved I am. It has been a long road. Congrats Dr. Toni Engram!

So with her finishing school, it is now time to start the next phase of our life. We've been waiting for her to graduate before buying our first house. It appears now is the time. We've been making trips to visit neighborhoods, scouring real estate websites, making lists, and checking them twice. We are getting closer to figuring out where we want to live. More than anything, we know we don't want to live in the "city" any longer. The commute for us has been next to zero...which has been awesome. But now I want to be where things are quiet, and calm, and much slower. So, we will go from no commute to about a 30 minute commute. The trade off is worth it to me. We will likely be moving south however. With folks continually moving north of Dallas...people are getting pushed up to Oklahoma. Eventually it simply gets too far away. So, I believe future growth will be south of Dallas. You can already start to see it. That is the plan right now.

And lastly, if finishing a movie, wife graduating, finding a new house weren't enough...my wife is also pregnant. We still don't know what the sex of the baby will be. I'm really excited. No matter whether it is a boy or a girl...I know he/she will change my life. The pregnancy has gone really well so far. We get advice from everyone...which is great. Due date looks to be Nov 15th. The next 6 months of our life is going to change drastically. Good thing I love change!

Until next time...here is a 4D pic of the baby...

OS2 was really an awesome project to be on. I'm really happy to have been part of it, and even happier to be part of the team here. These guys really are a great group of people.

Congrats on being pregnant if I haven't said it before, and to Dr. Toni for finishing school. :)

About your house search, if you need a realtor, Ernesto recommended a great one to us that we loved. She's one of the top 20 realtors in Dallas and it shows from the first moment you communicate with her. Let me know if you want her e-mail address.

Glad to have met you before your life started to go into super-crazy-overdrive! Even with all the change, you're still the man and you keep it together like none other. Congrats on all accounts!

Hey Bryan, congratulations. Im sure you're going to be a great dad. Just make sure you and your wife get enough rest while you still can but seeing your daughter will make all that worth it.
