Siggraph Baby! Finally.
Well I'm finally getting to go to Siggraph. It will be my first time. I'm probably the only animator in the world who has never been. I've always wanted to go just to see what the hubbub is all about. This year though, Reel FX is sending me as a representative for our animation department. They typically pick one person from each department that gets to go. Essentially we are there for a week to learn cool new stuff going on in the industry, make contacts, and recruit. Most years it is held in LA. This year it is being held in Boston. Sweet!...I've never been to Boston. I'll be out there from July 29th - August 3rd. It should be really fun. For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, here is a quick Wikipedia definition of the yearly event: SIGGRAPH (short for Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques) is the name of the annual conference on computer graphics (CG) convened by the ACM SIGGRAPH organization. The first SIGGRAPH conference was in 1974. The conference is attended by tens of thousands of computer professionals, and has most recently been held in Los Angeles. Past SIGGRAPH conferences have been held in Dallas, Boston, Seattle, New Orleans, San Diego and elsewhere across the United States. Here is a link to the Siggraph 2006 website...
